DBK APPOINTS GROUP FINANCIAL DIRECTOR

21 Jan 2009

Construction, property and development consultancy DBK has made a new strategic appointment by bringing a group financial director on board at its Birmingham headquarters office.

Jon Addis, 38, has joined DBK from Lloyds Development Capital (LDC), the private equity division of Lloyds TSB plc. Having been an investment director for two years at LDC’s Birmingham office, he then moved to head up the East Midlands office in June 2007.

Duncan Berry, principal director of DBK comments: “We have been on the lookout for a group financial director for some time, with the knowledge we needed someone who had a flexible mindset. In Jon Addis, we have found someone who combines first-rate corporate experience with an ability to devise creative financial solutions that will enable us to continue to move the business forward.

“Whilst the downturn in the property market has impacted on all property consultancy firms, our established client relationships have reduced the impact to DBK. By recruiting Jon to lead our finance team, we can be increasingly responsive to the changing market. His arrival to the team will enable us to think more dynamically and continue to develop the business. Whilst we will continue to seek to maximise opportunities to expand organically to service new client instructions, we are also keen to investigate potential acquisition opportunities in the UK and overseas.”

At Lloyds Development Capital, Mr Addis’ responsibilities included the execution of management buy out opportunities, managing the investment portfolio and relationship management with funding organisations. His experience in the support services industry meant he was perfectly placed to take up the position with DBK.

Prior to joining LDC, Jon was the commercial director for Hydrex Group, where he was instrumental in growing the company through acquisition before selling it for a significant capital gain. A key division of Hydrex also provided consultancy services to a number of major construction companies.

Having joined Arthur Andersen (now Deloitte) following his graduation, Jon took up the post as investment director within the Birmingham office of Royal Bank Private Equity before leaving to take up the senior post at Hydrex Group.

Jon Addis, group financial director of DBK comments: “DBK has managed to triple the size of its business over the past three years and is trading relatively well in a difficult market. With this track record of success, I will be working alongside DBK’s board of directors with the aim of growing the business in the medium term.”

Jon Addis will be implementing a new IT financial management system across the company’s six offices and enhancing internal reporting systems. Whilst his role is mainly internally focussed, Jon will also be working with DBK’s Project Recovery and Fund Monitoring teams to share his knowledge base and assist with business development.
